SHAKY SHAKY

(04JAN2009)

I’m leaning back in my desk chair watching Sportscenter at about 0055 (12:55AM) when the building starts to shudder in the now-familiar tumbling of an earthquake.

It’s fairly typical in the way it feels, my little hooch rocking back and forth, but it lasts much longer than any I’ve felt so far – about a full minute this time. It also trails off only after giving us a good strong farewell shake.

I look online and see that it’s a 5.9 magnitude, and also see that I completely missed a 4.4 and 5.8 within the last week. They each occurred before 0800, and it’s just more proof that I’m a heavy sleeper, I suppose.
